Not all dental emergencies are the same—some require immediate care, while others can wait. A knocked-out tooth, for example, needs urgent attention. Others, like a lost filling or chipped crown, may be less time-sensitive.
If you’re unsure whether your situation is an emergency or something that can wait, call Evolve Dentistry. Dr. Onwu and our team will help you determine the next best steps and provide guidance for at-home relief until you can be seen.
To manage discomfort in the meantime, you can:
Take over-the-counter pain relievers like Tylenol or Advil
Use gauze to stop any bleeding
Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling
When you’re ready, we’ll be here with a long-term solution to get you smiling again.
Toothaches
Persistent or severe tooth pain may indicate a deep cavity or an infection that could require a root canal. If your toothache lasts more than 1–2 days or worsens, seek emergency care immediately.
Oral Trauma
Accidents that result in a loose, cracked, or knocked-out tooth require urgent attention. A tooth that has been completely knocked out should be reinserted within 1–2 hours for the best chance of saving it. Contact Evolve Dentistry right away.
Lost or Damaged Dental Work
Losing a filling or crown leaves your tooth vulnerable to decay and damage. Don’t delay—having it repaired quickly helps prevent further complications.
Bleeding Gums or Soft Tissue Injuries
Uncontrolled bleeding from the gums, cheeks, or tongue may need stitches. If bleeding persists longer than an hour—or occurs spontaneously—it could also signal gum disease and should be evaluated promptly.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
